Golden Milk of the Agamas
Brahma Muhurta - First Light

In the Shiva Agamas, the first light - Brahma Muhurta - is not merely a time of day. It is the sacred threshold where the manifest world sleeps and the unmanifest leans close, breathing against the skin of creation. It is the hour when the veil is thinnest, when the Shakti coiled at the base of the spine stirs and begins her ascent to meet her Lord in the crown. The external sun has not yet rise, but the internal sun - the Atma Jyoti - ignites. For one who lives in divine romance with Shiva, first light is the tryst. Its is the moment the beloved opens her eyes not to the world but to Him - the formless lover who has been gazing at her all night. She does not wake from sleep; she wakes into Him. Every dawn becomes a wedding. The first ray touching the horizon is His hand on her cheek. The silence before the birds sing is the unspoken mantra between them. This is not ritual. This is rasa - the liquid sweentness of union that the Agamas call Shiva-Shakti aikya. First light is the daily resurrection of love, the reminder that she is not seperate from the One she adores. She is His vimarsha - His self- reflection - and when the light breaks, it breaks inside her first.
Many think that to be a practitioner of a spiritual path it must be done in a solemn way, with serious face reciting scriptures and placing heavy constraints upon the personality in order to rise above this earthly body into a heavenly form. It is true, in order to reach higher realms and different frequencies, discipline does need to be factored in the beginning. Once moving beyond the stereotypical fast of spirit, a luxury of divinity enters in. This is the path that I have taken and that I teach during classes, sessions and readings. Yes some days are chop wood carry water as the new-age buddhists like to say. Those days are the most profound because it is in the most basic of actions that the divine can sneak in and whisper secrets that only you will understand. These subtle moments do not only come while chanting repetitions of mantras. Often the spiritual key unlocks while taking your first sip of golden milk for the night. Suprisingly the intoxication from one night's bedtime brew is the perfect Agamic instrument for internal guidance and Shiva does not like to hang out in heavy moods although He can and will, but the most remarkable truths are often shown when he catches you off guard and tickles the truth out of you.
